Innovative technologies based on sound research, so-called deep tech, are the backbone of Europe’s digital industry. The European Union makes substantial efforts to identify, develop and deploy high risk innovations with a strong focus on breakthrough, market-creating and deep-tech solutions, and to support the rapid scale-up of innovative companies – not at last through the European Innovation Council and the EIT ecosystem. But European founders are competing globally for capital and talent, hampered by a fragmented domestic European market.

How can European digital ventures successfully grow in Europe? What’s the role of private and public investors? How can regional and national ecosystems contribute in an integrated manner? And how can we ensure to provide and retain the talent that is needed to scale up?
