Welcome to SVC R&D Days 2026! 

 

This time, we are hosted by Karlstad University!

Regarding the conference: 

 

Accommodation 

Accommodation is not included, and as such needs to be arranged by each participant. We recommend staying at the hotels close to “Stora Torget” in Karlstad city centre, such as Elite Stadshotel, Best Western Hotel Savoy and Hotel Bilan. From “Stora Torget” you can easily take the bus #1 to campus.  

SVC Research School, 9th and 10th of March 

A PhD-course will be held by Mahboobeh Hajiesmaeili of Karlstad University on the 9th and 10th of March at Karlstad University and online. Information on this can be found here Research School 2026: Introduction to Salmonid IBMs - svc-energiforsk. If you are interested in joining, talk to your project manager or sign up directly by emailing Michel Cervantes, our SVC Research School coordinator, at Michel.Cervantes@ltu.se 

Study visit to Gammelkroppa lax or Forshaga

A study visit will be held after lunch on the 12th. Those who have signed up for this will gather at “12-torget” before traveling together to Gammelkroppa lax or Forshaga. There you will either visit the state-of-the-art aquaculture facility at Gammelkroppa lax, or in ForshagaThe visit will take approximately 3-4 hours.

Workshop session

After lunch on the first day there will be a workshop led by Johan Watz from Karlstad University. The aim of this workshop is to share and discuss passage solutions for salmonids and other fish species in Swedish river systems. Attendance is limited to 38 people, and the workshop is aimed towards those of you who work with, research or aim to work with or research passage solutions for fish. 

Poster session

During the conference, we will have a poster session with as many of our research projects represented as possible. If you have a recently finished or ongoing project within SVC, please bring a poster and answer accordingly in the form.
